Hug your loved ones...

Hug your loved ones...

We unfortunately hear about this stuff too often, but this is the closest something like this has hit us.

Student dies after being shot at Discovery Middle School in Madison

At 1:45pm CST yesterday afternoon a 9th grader walked up behind another 9th grader and pulled the trigger. The victim passed later that night.

The alleged shooter was on our oldest son's soccer team last fall. My wife had dealings with him on an almost daily basis until his parents moved him to another local middle school to "get a fresh start". Both my wife and I met his mom on several occasions and both came away with impressions of a mother that was approaching the end of her rope with a troubled child... but still loved him and was doing all she could for him.

Now two families mourn, two children are lost, and a community is in shock because we always think it can't happen here.

Hug your loved ones... just that quickly everything can change.

hes a pretty bad shot... died later that night....
u could look at things on the bright side... his parents will save a TON of money on college and stuff...
also.... the kid will never have to deal with that problem kid anymore....
looks like its all good news.... (trouble kids r bad shots, parents save a boatload of money, and a kid finds a way to not deal with another kid that is causing him problems)

I have a healthy sense of humor, but I'm not sure that floats well at all.

One week later a professor supposedly fighting not getting tenure shoots and kills 3 faculty and sends 3 more faculty to the hospital. I attended this university, but was in the Business Administration School. The shooting occurred in the Biology Department. We have some members of the Ward who teach at this University, so there were some tense moments while sorting things out.

wasnt a joke, you should live every moment to its fullest, rather than making a sad spot in ur life cause u want to be sad. you choose weather ur sad or not. you choose how u perceive things. while it was wrong for the kid to kill the other kid, good things came from it. Not everything that came from it was bad. you choose weather u r happy or not, not somebody else, and not the circumstances around u.

Okay, but your optimism isn't too great either. I mean, looking at not having to pay for the college tuition of a child who has killed as a positive... for real? I think many parents would rather pay for the college.

Congratulations. It takes a lot to make the dumbest comment in Internet history yet you've achieved just that.

A senseless murder occurred and two young lives are demolished. I think that warrants something more than an insensitive cluster of comments talking about the shooting ability of the killer, or how the killer's parents now won't have to pay for his college.

This post was about an unfortunate event and how it should make us appreciate more those loved ones around us. I personally find nothing wrong with being sad when one is sad, or being mad when one is mad, or being happy when one is happy.

I have no problem with people being honest in their emotions. You might very well be optimistic, but in my opinion you're coming across as insensitive, or callous... not the perception I think you're going for.

But hey... moving on.

ROTFL, insensitive.... LOL... K ur right, i am pretty insensitive, which is why i am also very optimistic.
but i gave a pretty realistic breakdown of what happens in real life...

1. shooter was at point blank range, but the victim didn't die till later, at point blank range you aught to be able to kill right then and there.

2. victims family will be sad, but will immediately begin to reap the rewards of not having to pay for their child, which im sure that they would much rather pay for thier child, but having a bit less money going out in ur budget is pretty nice too.

3. the shooter was a problem to many of the students... problem solved, now hes somebody elses problem.

Billbob...
Don't defend your post. It wasnt even close to socially acceptable. Defending it just highlights whatever personality problems you may have.

If you think it was acceptable, defendable, then I am telling you point blank, that you have some sort of disorder, and am asking you to please stop posting, so you dont end up doing something like that again.
